Go Behind the Scenes at Auckland Castle
22 March 2018
A multi-million pound conservation programme is taking place at 900-year-old Auckland Castle, County Durham, to help create an arts, faith and heritage destination of international significance.
A special film, documenting some of this extensive work, has been produced to take visitors behind the scenes where they can catch a glimpse of some of changes that have been made.
The three-minute film features interviews with Glen Watson from Gateshead-based Meldrum Construction Services, who are carrying out the work, as well as Ros Kerslake, Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has made a grant of £11.4m to support the conservation thanks to National Lottery players.
Meldrum’s work will be complete in July and Auckland Castle will reopen to the public on 1 December 2018 following full fit out.
