Interim Home for Charity Staff

21 November 2016

Auckland Castle Trust has signed a short term lease for three floors of Vinovium House, Bishop Auckland, which have stood empty for several years.

The lease, effective from January 2017, will provide interim office accommodation for the charity’s growing number of staff, who are currently split between Auckland Castle and 42 Market Place.

The Trust’s headquarters will remain at Vinovium House until all building work is completed in the £70m development project, including creation of the new Spanish Art Gallery and Faith Museum, both due to open in 2019.

Explaining the move David Maddan, Chief Executive Officer of Auckland Castle Trust, said: “Vinovium House not only offers the necessary space for Auckland Castle Trust’s growing number of staff but, more importantly, it allows the charity to remain in the heart of Bishop Auckland while restoration of Auckland Castle and building on its associated developments is underway.”
