A Taste of Old-Fashioned Fun for May Half-Term

9 May 2016

Family fun takes centre stage at Auckland Castle this May half-term, with old-fashioned outdoor pursuits and arts and crafts at the heart of the week’s activities.

With summer just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to rediscover the joy of being together as a family and look beyond the computer and TV for entertainment.

There’s a labyrinth to explore, traditional garden games to play on the lawn, a range of themed arts and crafts, and the chance to go on a ‘boar hunt’ in the park.

Discover a fun trail more about the history and personalities of the Prince Bishops by hunting down the symbols that show their wealth and power. Or make your own adventures in the deer park.

Children can experience what it’s like to be a bishop by dressing up and sitting on their own mini throne, or pretending they’re Joseph of amazing technicolour dream coat fame, as depicted in Auckland Castle’s 13 colourful life-size paintings of Jacob and his 12 Sons that hang in the Long Dining Room.
